At this November Chomp and Chat, we'll be making a difference by jingling while we mingle. This month, we're supporting Silver Santas by collecting essential toiletries and new clothing items to help them stock their warehouse. As you know, many Silver Santa tags go unfulfilled, and your generous donations help keep their expenses down, allowing them to assist more people in need.

For this event, please bring full-size toiletries such as body wash, shampoo/conditioner (combos are especially appreciated!), deodorant, shaving accessories, and dental accessories. We're also collecting aftershave, cologne, and perfume, which are highly requested by seniors!

Your support means the world to us and Silver Santas. Let's come together to make this Chomp and Chat a success!

Better Living For Seniors Pinellas

LGBTQ+ Elder Initiative Consortium

Date: October 10, 2025

Location: The Grove at Countryside, Clearwater, FL 33759

On behalf of the LGBTQ+ Elder Initiative Committee, we extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in our recent event focused on fostering inclusive spaces for aging with dignity. The event featured a distinguished panel of thought leaders, healthcare professionals, researchers, and community advocates, all of whom contributed invaluable perspectives and expertise. The discussions were robust, covering research findings, personal narratives, and actionable strategies for building supportive environments for LGBTQ+ elders. We were particularly encouraged by the active engagement of attendees, who seized the opportunity to connect with community resources, expand their professional networks, and acquire practical tools for their respective fields. It is our firm conviction that meaningful progress stems from informed dialogue and collaborative action, and this event served as a testament to that principle. We look forward to continuing this vital work together.

Silver Santas is a grassroots project of Better Living for Seniors in Pinellas county.  Our goal is to provide gifts during the holiday season to isolated and low-income seniors living in assisted living, senior housing communities and at home. The gift recipients are identified by professional Guardians, Case/Social Workers, Senior Community/Activity Directors, and other professionals.  They submit a wish list for their seniors and we solicit the public to 'adopt' the senior and provide the items on the list. Your tax-deductible donations are requested to purchase commonly requested items such as toiletries, socks, slippers, blankets, pajamas, etc.  We welcome you to support the Silver Santas effort by making a monetary donation below or donating specific items.  To Learn More About Silver Santas Click here
