BRIGHTENING HOLIDAYS FOR VULNERABLE SENIORS

No Senior Should Be Forgotten During the Holidays.

Too many seniors live alone on fixed incomes - even essentials can be out of reach. Health issues often prevent them from joining celebrations or even shopping. For these seniors, the holiday season magnifies loneliness and hardship. So each year, Silver Santas brings our community together to create personalized holiday gift bags for thousands of low-income isolated seniors in assisted living communities.

Originally started under another name two decades ago, Silver Santas was established in 2017 as a committee of the Better Living for Seniors organization (BLS), which is affiliated with the Area Agency on Aging Pasco-Pinellas. Beginning with just a few hundred bags, Silver Santas has grown into a beloved local tradition with the Pinellas community, to service 1,900+ qualified seniors.

How Silver Santas works:

Make sure the tag stays with the gifts—it is how our volunteers make sure the right items reach the right senior!

2026 Tag Entry Deadline: 6PM on Friday 10/2/26. We always accept donations of new unused clothing, bath products, books, puzzles and more!

You can still help fill Silver Santas gift bags - a single bag or in bulk. We welcome donations of new clothing, new hygiene products, candy (*no perishables) and small personal items throughout the year.

In addition to providing the gifts, we welcome BLS member-volunteers to help organize and implement the program at our Warehouse.

For BLS members, on Wednesday November 11 we are having a "Sorting Party" where we will be sorting more than 250 early bags at our warehouse (Home Instead). Register to volunteer: 

  • Register: Wednesday November 11 starting at 12PM until 4:00PM. Warehouse gift bag sorting mini-marathon. Come anytime between these hours (let us know when you plan to arrive so we can plan).
